Ministry of labor: Saudi economy witnesses an upswing in 2018 with a notable decrease in the unemployment rate


 An official in the ministry of labor and social development expects that the programs, applied by ministry of labor, ministry of economy and planning, job creation commission, as well as some great companies- such as "Aramco"- will lead to an upswing in the Saudi economy along with a notable decrease in unemployment rate in 2018.

Ministry of labor's human resources department director, "Nawaf Al-Dabeb" sees, according to Mecca, that the recession witnessed by the Saudi economy was normal and necessary because the Saudi labor market suffered from distortion as a result of using foreign labors and the outbreak of commercial concealment phenomenon, referring that the current corrective era, despite of being difficult, is imperative.

In his turn, head of the committee of labor market in the council of Saudi chambers Mansour al-shethry referred to that the increase in the number of the unemployed is due to the recession that the kingdom witness, specially in retail and contracting sections, and that this recession in the retail section is a result of the extensive expansion of electronic trading and opening new stores.


It is noteworthy that a report for general authority for statistics referred to that the number of the unemployed has increased in the second quarter of the year by 26.6 thousand unemployed, to reach the number of 802.6 thousand unemployed.
